From data to value: Grap’Sud connects its energy installation with myV.CARE

At Grap’Sud, creating value from residual materials is part of the company’s core business. Based in the wine-growing regions of southern France, Grap’Sud recovers and transforms co-products from the wine sector into food-grade and industrial alcohols, food products such as sugar and colorants, winemaking products, and ingredients and solutions for agriculture.

At its distillery in Cruviers-Lascours, Grap’Sud has extended this principle to its energy production with a new VYNCKE biomass installation.

Commissioned in September 2025, the 8.9 MW steam boiler produces up to 12 tons of steam per hour at a pressure of 19 bar(g). The installation can use grape pulp, grape seed press cake, and forestry wood chips as fuel, converting local biomass into steam for Grap’Sud’s distillation columns. The installation is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 12,805 tons per year.

This project demonstrates how myV.CARE can bring data from different energy installations together in one digital environment. By combining information from a VYNCKE installation with data from equipment supplied by another provider, the platform gives Grap’Sud a more complete view of plant performance and supports smarter energy management.

One platform for two different boilers

The VYNCKE biomass boiler operates alongside an existing gas boiler. While Grap’Sud aims to meet as much of its steam demand as possible using biomass, the gas boiler remains available as an additional energy source when necessary.

To provide an overview of the complete ecosystem, selected information from the gas boiler was connected to the VYNCKE control system and integrated into myV.CARE. Grap’Sud can now view data from both installations within the same digital environment.

Making plant data easier to use

Data from the VYNCKE installation is collected through the Smart Plant Edge PC and securely transferred to the cloud. Within myV.CARE, that information is presented through clear dashboards that can support monitoring, reporting, alerting, and plant analysis.

The cloud connection also supports closer cooperation between Grap’Sud and VYNCKE by giving authorized VYNCKE specialists remote access to the relevant plant data. This shared visibility enables more proactive Customer support: by monitoring key operating data and identifying unusual trends at an early stage, VYNCKE specialists can alert Grap’Sud and recommend timely actions before potential issues affect plant performance or availability. When assistance is required, this remote access enables them to investigate technical questions and support the Customer more efficiently.

Monetizing the value of energy data

The Grap’Sud project also shows how information collected through myV.CARE can be used beyond the platform. Through a secure cloud API, selected plant data can be made available to third-party systems. Grap’Sud enabled this feature to automatically and securely share energy-production data with a third-party carbon contribution operator and certifier. Beyond simplifying and automating the process, this reliable data flow helps make Grap’Sud’s sustainability efforts more transparent and measurable, turning renewable steam production into verifiable environmental value.

A flexible digital foundation

The Grap’Sud project brings several myV.CARE capabilities together in one reference case. By combining data from the VYNCKE biomass boiler and the existing gas boiler, myV.CARE gives Grap’Sud a more complete view of its energy production. The project also shows how plant data can support applications beyond daily operations, from proactive technical support to transparent sustainability reporting.
